Sunday, 5 August and Monday, 6 August

On Sunday, we went Washington, DC and visited monuments and memorials. At first, we visited Jefferson memorial and Roosevelt memorial. There is big statue of Jefferson in Jefferson memorial. I have never read independence declaration, so this is the first time for me to read it. Then we went top of the Washington monument. We could see many buildings, for example White house. Then we separated into two groups, and I decided to go monuments and memorials. In Vietnam War memorial, I thought war must not be repeated.

On Monday, we have lecture about international relations and diplomacy. I was interested in that theme, but it was too difficult for me to understand everything. I was sorry that I couldn’t ask questions, because I didn’t know what I didn’t know.
At night, we went to shopping to Pentagon City. I bought souvenirs for my friends and accessories for me. I enjoyed shopping yesterday.

Hi Kotomi, what excellent visists you have had so far. I understand what you mean when you want to know more about something but the information is not that clear to you. This experience, however, will help you next time you come across these facts of American diplomacy and history as you will remember the interesting historic places you have visited so far.

Cheers, Berta

I appreciate your comment about not knowing what to ask during the lecture. It's challenging to ask questions when you aren't sure how much you have understood! Keep practicing your listening comprehension, though. There are a lot of internet sites with listening practice podcasts and activities.

Hello, Kotomi!
I enjoyed reading your wonderful post about what you did on Sunday and Monday. I know how hard it is to listen to the lecture in English, but I guess it'll inspire you to learn English more!
